The Weekend Writing Warriors share 8 sentences over the weekend. Here are mine from the start of a historical novella set in Victorian London called Lily & the Mechanic.
Lily has just propositioned her mechanic to show her how the sheaths are used and she is waiting for an answer. For those of you interested the sexy snipped below flows on from these 8 sentences.
“Is that a yes?” The uncertainly in her voice whispered between them.
It was humiliating waiting for him to react, a nakedness that would have pushed her masks back in place if it wasn’t for that foolish hope that was pinned to her chest.
The first thing to register was that his teeth were even and bright, but it was the look on his face that melted the tension out of her.
Her hands relaxed.
She had jumped and he had caught her.
With the reality of the next half hour set, excitement now warred with panic. And lost.

“She had jumped and he had caught her.” Yes – that’s exactly how it feels when you discover that your feeling is returned. But what tension until you know!
