Snippet: THE VEILED HEART

Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday

The Weekend Writing Warriors share  8 sentences over the weekend. Here are mine from the start of a historical novel set in Victorian London called THE VEILED HEART .

Miriam ( nick named Lily by our hero) has come back from a night trying to educate prostitutes without our hero there to protect her. He’s waiting for her when she comes back.

London 1898

Worthington ran his hands over her, skimmed them over every surface like a blind man.

Lily flapped her arms uselessly at him.

“Stop that, this is really too much.”

“Your clothing is intact,” it was, but confirming the fact that she was alright wasn’t making the tight knot in his gut loosen.

“Of course it is, what do you think I do when I go out?” pink flushed her face and she did that stubborn tilt of her chin he was growing to like very much.

Both her hands pressed against his chest and pushed.

He let her go and growled, he didn’t like her pushing him away. It felt wrong, totally wrong.
