The Weekend Writing Warriors share  8-10 sentences over the weekend. Here are mine from the start of a historical novel set in Victorian London called THE BOUND HEART.

Mr. James Edwards, the Bond Street Bookshop’s bookbinder and The Velvet Basement’s source of shibari photographic plates has avoided Miss Olive Thompson for a long time. After one encounter he stepped back and avoided her but she is a very determined woman and will not be put of easily.

London 1898

It was nine pm exactly that the carriage pulled up. His staff had stayed to help with the unloading of equipment that always came with a photographic session.

Jamie looked down at the street from the attic window. The woman he would bind and that Edger would photograph when he was done, stepped down the carriage steps.

Cloaked.

Awkward.

His heart thumped hard in his chest, his blood pounded and rushed through his veins in a crackle of awareness that his mind could not yet work out.

Then the woman stepped forward towards his house and a rush so powerful flew through him he grabbed onto the window ledge. The woman with her odd limp disappeared from view as she moved up the stairs to his house.

She may be cloaked but there was no mistaking who the woman was, who Edger had brought for him to tie….Olive.
