Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday
#sexy snippet & #mysexysaturday
The Weekend Writing Warriors share 8 sentences over the weekend. Here are mine from the start of a historical novel set in Victorian London called THE VEILED HEART ( formerly Lily & the Mechanic).
The mechanic, has found a way to meet Lily…..
London 1898
Lily gave the cab driver directions home and stepped into the carriage.
The vehicle lurched forward.
A sound, like the grinding of bones, rumbled through the cabin of the carriage. It immediately changed to a shrill scream of metal dragging against metal. The horses whinnied and jostled, jerking the carriage over to the right and then back again. The cabbie, shouted at then, his boots loud thumps on the platform. The cab drew to a bouncing stop.
There were a few colorful phrases before the driver opened the door ,“trouble with the wheel m’lady.”

Sounds like a mechanic is needed- in more ways than one! Great snippet, as always!
This must be where the Mechanic shows up. Exciting situation and dangerous for a woman alone at night.
Very vivid description of the trouble with the carriage. Did the mechanic sabotage it? I hope so! Nice snippet.
Nice! An audible assault to this reader’s ear. 🙂 I felt a bit of foreshadowing from your word choice, Elsa. “Grinding bones”. Good 8!
Wow, from that description, she’s lucky it’s only trouble with the wheel! The details and the sounds were excellent…my ears are still ringing.
I love the sounds you’ve created in this, Elsa: ‘like the grinding of bones’ and ‘a shrill scream of metal dragging against metal’. Quite vivid.
Amazing!!! 🙂
